Two midwestern collegiate rowers from Bates College in Maine stand close in a rustic boathouse, their shirtless bodies leaning against weathered wooden beams beside a rowing shell. The man with short brown hair and a clean-shaven face rests his hand on the chest of the other man, who has short dark hair. The second man angles his body slightly toward the first, his arm wrapped around the other’s waist. Their foreheads touch as they look into each other’s eyes. Both wear black jockstraps with gold laces, the straps hugging their muscular asses. The rowing boat, partially visible behind them, curves into the frame with its sleek, varnished hull reflecting the soft light. Crepuscular rays stream through high windows, cutting through the dim interior and illuminating dust motes in the air. The light casts long, even shadows across their torsos and the worn floorboards. The atmosphere is quiet and intimate, with a sense of ease and unspoken connection between them.
