Throatdown, a harsh direct-flash phone photo of a young woman in her early twenties with smudged winged eyeliner, a black choker, and dyed black hair with a bleached streak, bent backward over the padded arm of a worn thrifted couch, her band tee shoved up to her collarbones, small pale breasts bare, skin washed bright by the flash against the dark living room behind her. A man stands at the couch arm with his front to the camera, cropped from ribs to knees, his gray sweatpants tugged down only at the front with the waistband still up across the back of his hips, his erect penis buried in her upside-down open mouth, her throat bulging around it, mascara running wet tracks toward her hairline. Crushed red plastic cups and bottles on the carpet, a dead lamp in the corner, hard flash shadows, the grainy blown-out look of a 2 a.m. phone snapshot.
